Simply, who is a subject pronoun and whom is an object pronoun, but confusion reigns because the latter replaces the former if it is preceding the verb. Example:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To whom did you speak?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As it is you (the subject) that spoke, whom is correctly used here as an object pronoun, and it is before the verb.<\/span><\/p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another issue is the format of the verb after many indefinite pronouns. Example:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nobody are her.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although nobody suggests plural, body is singular and should always be used with the third person singular.
